Product Overview
Tiger Gel is an easy to mix, high yield sodium bentonite formulated to provide viscosity and fluid loss control in water based mud systems.
Applications
Tiger Gel is a viscosifier that reduces fluid loss by building a thin, robust filter cake as well as having an excellent carrying capacity which promotes better hole cleaning. Tiger Gel mixes with fresh water to produce a cost effective, low solids drilling fluid.
Advantages
- Provides quick viscosity and lubrication
- Cost effective
- Aids hole cleaning
- Reduces fluid loss
- Deposits thin filter cake on bore walls to improve borehole stability
- Compatible with most other Tiger Fluids additives
- Environmentally safe
Typical Properties
- Appearance
- Grey to tan powder
- pH (1% Aqueous solution)
- 8.0 – 9.0
Mixing & Dosage
Tiger Gel should be mixed slowly into the circulating system using agitation or a venturi mixer.
- Normal drilling conditions – 18 to 30kg/m³
- Unconsolidated formations – 35 to 50kg/m³
- Make up for gel/foam systems – 15 to 20kg/m³
For optimum yield, pre-treat make up water with soda ash to achieve pH of 8 to 9 using approximately 1 to 1.25kg/m³.
Rates are a guide and vary with hole conditions, make-up water and formation. Confirm against the data sheet or call our technical team.
Packaging
Tiger Gel comes in 25kg sacks.
